Henderson Hospital Patient Tower

The vision for this project was to improve and provide the necessary top-notch care to the neighborhoods surrounding the current acute care unit at Henderson Hospital. The new influx of patients caused by a nearby hospital closure caused the expansion phase of this project to be completed at an accelerated pace. This project doubled the capacity of the maternity ward which vastly increased the care for expecting mothers.

To optimize the design for this phase of UHS, TJK was able to identify and reuse successful elements from the initial phase to ensure continuity between the two buildings. An additional implementation was the increased flexibility between the normal power system and the emergency power system. The design provided dual critical bus-ways up the core of the hospital tower. This was an important element that will allow the hospital to maintain power during expansions and remodels.
