Jo Mackey iLead Academy for the Digital Sciences is Clark County’s first K through 8 magnet school, offering specialized programs in Leadership and Digital Sciences. TJK provided mechanical, plumbing, electrical, and technology engineering services for the new school, supporting CCSD’s vision for a modern learning environment centered on technology and student engagement.

The ground up school was developed from a middle school prototype previously engineered by TJK, with significant modifications for the new program. Unlike many CCSD schools that use hydronic HVAC systems, Jo Mackey was designed with rooftop multizone units using direct expansion cooling and gas heating. This approach helped simplify the mechanical system and support the project’s construction schedule.

Lighting also contributed to the character of the school. At the principal’s request, TJK incorporated distinctive donut shaped LED pendant fixtures into the kindergarten hallway, creating a playful visual element within the learning environment.
