Originally built in 1981, Desert Rose High School underwent a comprehensive modernization to update aging building systems and infrastructure throughout the 32,202 square foot campus. TJK provided mechanical, plumbing, electrical, and technology engineering services.

The modernization included replacement of existing air handling and rooftop units with a high efficiency VRF system and other new HVAC equipment, along with improvements to exhaust systems and ductwork. TJK also designed upgrades to the school’s electrical infrastructure, including a new generator and emergency power distribution, exterior lighting improvements, and power to support the new technology systems. Plumbing work included evaluation of the existing underground waste piping and design of necessary repairs and modifications.

Technology improvements included new equipment and telecommunications rooms and a new network supporting voice and data, CCTV, intercom, fire alarm, and access control systems. The new infrastructure was designed so the school’s existing technology systems could remain operational until the replacement network was ready to be placed into service.
