Clark County upgraded the Clark Place Central Plant as part of its efforts to improve the efficiency and sustainability of existing facilities in support of the All-In Clark County Climate Action Plan. The project focused on modernizing aging central plant equipment and controls while maintaining operation of the facility throughout construction.

TJK provided mechanical and plumbing engineering services for the central plant upgrades. The design included replacement and upsizing of two existing chillers with new 300 ton units, along with new pumps, variable frequency drives, a cooling tower, and larger hydronic piping. TJK also designed the removal of the existing glycol system and coordinated integration of the new equipment with the building automation system.

Careful phasing was a key consideration because the central plant needed to remain operational during construction. Temporary cooling and associated infrastructure were incorporated into the design to maintain service while the existing systems were replaced.
