This LEED Silver Certified project owned by the City of Las Vegas includes an 18,500 square foot academy, consisting of classrooms, an exterior play area, child and adult restrooms, offices, a staff lounge/break area, a family engagement meeting room, a training room, and a health clinic. The goal of the Strong Start Academy is to create a safe learning environment for children from disadvantaged homes to start their academic journey.

As our firm has a wide range of experience with the City of Las Vegas and designing educational facilities with school districts, we were able to utilize our past knowledge on similar projects and apply it to this unique project. The TJK team provided design concepts and expertise and was prepared to deliver the project quickly and efficiently. Our team evaluated strategies like daylighting sensors in the classrooms to optimize lighting with reduced power consumption as well as collaborated on the building energy model to maximize LEED credits. Our team was proud to be a part of this project and are grateful for the safe academic opportunities it will provide for disadvantaged children in our community.
